A great quote I found on Christine Miller's site: http://swirlygirl.com
"Don't ask what the world needs.
Ask what makes you come alive and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people
who have come alive."

Sweet Hubby
Over the weekend I spent some time snapping photos of DH... much to his demise.. I got some good photos and some really silly ones!
journaling reads:
While we were away for the weekend I decided to snap some photos of you. You tried to make it difficult for me, giving me every look you could think of; but, in the end, my perseverance paid off! I got some of the best photos I have even taken of you

I Love Parades!
Ah, DH and I went to the local Veterans Day Parade. I just love a parade. Seems like in this town they always happen when it's wet out. We just got a little drizzle. I came armed with camera and took over 600 photos! LOL I told you I go crazy... I have a hare shutter finger! (is that the right kind of hare or is it hair?) A couple of years ago I had ordered some flags to decorate the flower beds from mid June to Mid July and when they arrived they were much larger than I had anticipated, so I never used them. As we were getting ready to go I asked DH to grab them because I wanted to put them in lawns of some veterans we know. I thought we could do it after the parade. That plan went by the wayside, as I was taking photos DH gave them to some of the little ones around. I was fine with that, they were so cute standing there on the curb waving their flags.
The President of the group game me his card and asked if I would send him copies because his camera was at the other end of the route.. NO problem. Then DH and became engaged in conversation with this couple from the Veterans of foreign wars.
They were very sweet. He was a WWII vet. They invited us to an additional celebration and dinner at the Moose Club. We graciously (I hope) declined. Then I spotted this Vietnam Vet walking my direction down the block. He was wearing his full outfit backpack and all.. albeit the backpack looked a bit light. He looked very surreal walking up there alone in the dampness.
I had to take that. He stopped to talk with someone and I caught up with him, got some closer photos. Turns out the guy he was talking to was from the local radio station, so I got some photos of the interview. Then we happened along a Coastguard reserve gentleman and his dog. I couldn't resist and then when his wife came out of a nearby shop in her uniform, well, th e shutter kept on clicking. Turns out he was in the Navy during WWII. He met his wife in the 8th grade when they both lived in Folsom. He joined the Navy right out of high school and said he was so surprised when he reported to San Diego to find 5 other of his classmates there. He said it was just like going back to high school. Well he and his sweetie never got together... for several decades... ten years ago when they got married they joined the coast guard reserve....
seem kind old but what do I know? We met many interesting and friendly people... and they all want copies of the photos... did I mention my cd player/burner is kaput? wonder how I will pull this off.. anyway, I leave you with a few photos
One little gal, about 6, was dressed in full camo and had her boots on! She was just adorable. One float came by and a little girl yelled from the float "Happy Veterans Day Grandma!" How sweet is that! After the parade, I spotted the the Lao-Hmong group near by and I went to get additional photos because they were so wonderfully colorful!

Two Small Items
the first is a quote:
"It is a denial of the divinity within us to doubt our potential and our possibilities."—James E. Faust (Ensign, May 1986, p. 21.)
is that profound or what? The second is a photo. I'm behind.. this is one I took when in Monterey. When was that... August? I should just put all my photos up on photobucket or something LOL ok ok I can't post just one! (don't shoot me!)
OK OK enough is enough.. you SHOULD see the things I take pictures of!

Whew! Scrap Artist fun!
Working my fat touche (tushy) off trying to finish the album I promised my cousin for her daughter's first year. This one I really want to share; not because it is exceptional (it's not) but because I got to use a Scrap Artist apprentice challenge round 4 product. For those who have been with the bears for the past month or so and those who don't run in digiscrap circles... Scrap Artist wanted to add some new designers to their shop and to make it interesting and draw traffic to the site they held an apprentice contest. (kind of like the Donald only the gals there all have far superior hair styles and the hair on their heads is actually rooted in!) Anyway, there was 4 rounds. In the first three rounds the contestants were given guidelines on something to create. At the end a number of contestants moved on to the next round... and the others... well I know of one who got a position at another shop.... each rounds entries were made available for free download to SA members. Round four, the final round, the last 9 contestants were to create an entire kit. The kits are being offered at the site for $2.00 EACH! WOW! what a steal! Each sale is tallied as a vote. The winner(s) are offered a shop at scrap artist. Turns out I know some of the final contestants... one of which I work with on JoDe Lawrence's (Digitalbits) Creative Team for Altered Scrapping and Scrapbook-Bytes. It's Lisa Dozier! Lisa created this wonderfully bright sanded looking kit that would be great for either traditional style, free style or altered scrapping . Take a peek Now to top it off, Lisa is offering a free add-on kit at her blog as well as a posting bonus! FABULOUS stuff! Go check it out!

Winners and Loosers
I sure wish I could remember this when I need to!

Junk Mail aka SPAM
you know all that junk mail that your friends and family send on to you because somebody sent it to them and they didn't want an evil curse to come to their house so they sent it to their 5 or 10 closest friends within 2 minutes? Well, there was a time when I actually read that stuff and sometimes I saved it! Rather than clog your email boxes with it, I thought I would just post some here occasionally to amuse everyone! With that said... here is one I found in my box... it's uh... from 2002... LOL but it still made me smile!
IT'S GOOD TO BE THE WOMAN.
We got off the Titanic first.
We can scare male bosses with mysterious
gynecological disorder excuses.
Taxis stop for us.
We don't look like a frog in a blender when dancing.
No fashion faux pas we make could ever
rival The Speedo.
We don't have to pass gas to amuse ourselves.
If we forget to shave, no one has to know.
We can congratulate our teammate without
ever touching her rear.
We never have to reach down every so often
to make sure our privates are still there.
We have the ability to dress ourselves.
We can talk to people of the opposite sex
without having to picture them naked.
If we marry someone 20 years younger,
we're aware that we look like an idiot.
There are times when chocolate really can
solve all your problems.
We'll never regret piercing our ears.
We can fully assess a person just by
looking at their shoes.
hmmm, almost sounds like a scrap challenge eh? LOL
We can make comments about how silly men
are in their presence, because they aren't
listening anyway.
